'Trailblazing' will see three choirs move through the streets of Newcastle, convening at Performance Square for a unified performance.
Date:
Saturday, 23 June 2018
Time:
TBA

Three choirs (She Choir – Manchester, Infant Hercules – Stockton and Commoners Choir – Yorkshire), following three separate routes will fill the streets with song before gathering in one unified chorus.

Follow the rousing voices of three choirs as they make their way along separate city centre routes before joining together in an uplifting chorus at Performance Square, Sage Gateshead.

Painting a musical picture of life in the North, the performance comprises a trio of very different choirs with passionate links to their hometowns of Manchester, Leeds and Stockton.

With songs composed by Boff Whalley – formerly of pop band Chumbawamba – Trailblazing not only celebrates the diversity of the North, but also emphasises how much its regions have in common.

It’s a gathering of different places, histories and dialects – a harmonic bringing together of identity and place.

Starting Point: outside of Northern Stage

End point: Performance Square
