Action Station South Tyneside was founded in 1998 by members of the local Anglican, Methodist, and Catholic churches working with members of the community. It was recognised that there was a need for a multi-action Centre where caring agencies run by volunteers and paid workers could work together to provide the means to improve the quality of life for people living on South Tyneside.

Since opening, Action Station has quickly grown into a well-established and renowned community facility. Official recognition of this achievement has been manifested through the presentation of the Queen’s Jubilee Award (for providing Advice and Education Facilities to South Tyneside residents), the Silver Award from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (for Best Practice), and the Charities Award (for the promotion of Social Care, Welfare, and Religion).

Action Station South Tyneside has  moved to larger premises and aims to support our community by establishing social enterprises which will create employment, well-being and training opportunities in the community and strengthen the core activities of Action Station through sustainability.
