What is Listening Post? What happens there?

Listening-Post is a drop-in centre which provides a free, one to one, confidential listening service for anyone feeling alone and stressed, with a problem which may be really causing concern.

Our volunteer listeners are trained, mature and experienced people who give of their time to help others. They give a warm welcome offering a cup of tea or coffee and then full attention is given to each caller. Listeners will allow you some precious time for yourself to share what is on your mind. This can help toward sorting things out. They may also give some useful feedback in a tentative, non-judgemental way.

Listening Post is a Christian-based voluntary organisation which sets out to be available and accessible to all people as often as possible, to provide a safe haven and enable people to recognise their own value, to accept people as they are and not try to change them, but to stay alongside them in times of need.

We would like to hear from you if ....

  • You feel in need of a time to share what is bothering you, however trivial you may think it is. If it bothers you it is important.
  • If you think you have the interest, time and compassion to become a listener. We give training to our volunteers, who are also vetted carefully.

When is it on?

Monday to Saturday 12 noon to 3.00pm (except Thursdays and Sundays)
