The Weardale Museum is a small independent folk museum established by volunteers in 1985 to preserve the heritage of Weardale.

Though entirely voluntary our museum operates to the highest standards. It has achieved full accreditation from the MLA, a Carnegie Award for excellent interpretation and has been highly commended by Renaissance North East and the Arts Council as an outstanding volunteer run museum.
