The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company's new Academy opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism
The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company are launching 3 new Academies at Theatre Royal, including a Youth Theatre Academy. Theatre Royal is the latest exciting Academy space to be added to our line-up of Newcastle cultural venues, including Northern Stage, Alphabetti Theatre, Dance City and World Headquarters.
Whether somebody is aspiring to DJ in a Newcastle night club, perform at some of the North East's most famous theatres, or tour their own live music, our Academies have something for everyone.
Free taster days are available.
Performing Arts Academy 16+
Develop your skills in writing, acting and directing. Produce your own plays and perform live at theatres
Tuesday - 10:00 -1pm Theatre Royal, Grey St, Newcastle
1:30 - 4:30pm Theatre Royal, Grey St, Newcastle
Fridays - 1-4pm, Methodist Centre, Morpeth, Northumberland
Saturdays - 10 – 4pm, Northern Stage, Barras Bridge, Newcastle

Youth Theatre (11-15 years old)
Develop your skills in writing, acting and directing. Make your own drama and film and perform live at theatres.

Band Academy
Work with professional musicians to develop your music skills, to write your own songs, and to perform live at gig nights and events.

DJ Academy
Learn DJ'ing skills with the help of a professional DJ and DJ live at FRESH club night.

How much do the Academies cost?
Fees: Full day £39. Half day £19.50
The Academy programmes run 47 week per year.
Who can join?
Anyone with a learning disability or autism, aged 16+ or aged 11+ for our youth programmes.
