The LGBT Fed is looking for volunteers to be LGBT Hate Crime Advocates.

As LGBT People we will all have experienced some hate incidents in our lives and so will be aware and sympathetic to other victims. If you are interested in being a support to our fellow LGBT People then we will welcome you. We will be offering training around what to expect, how to deal with potential issues, how to sign-post people to expert advice, how to be an active listener, and how to look confident so that people will trust you and feel that they can rely on you.

We will have some specific work around cyber bullying as this type of incident is becoming very prevalent and is even more devastating as it reaches into our homes. Plus we will have a workshop from the Crown Prosecution Service to advise us on what constitutes a hate incident and a hate crime.

As one of our volunteers we will put you up for an enhanced DBS, and you will join a small team of other LGBT Hate Crime Advocates.

Usually it will involve 4 -5 sessions of 1 ½ hrs training to include refreshments. We would plan to start the training in January. Please contact mail@lgbtfed.com
