Play area 

The play area covers an area of approximately 5,000 square metres and is suitable for all children, from toddlers to children in their teens. Its central feature is a 16 foot castle, inspired by the nearby Lumley Castle which overlooks the park.

Please note, although the play area is a safe environment, children must be supervised at all times.

Splash pad

The splash pad is a state of the art play facility which is free to use and suitable for families from toddlers to early teens. It is the only splash pad in County Durham and replaces the old paddling pool.

Park centre

The Park Centre includes a kiosk selling drinks and snacks every day during the summer and at weekends throughout the year.

Chester-le-Street Bowling Club

The park centre is home to Chester-le-Street Bowling club, which is always keen to welcome newcomers to the game. The greens are open to the public throughout the summer months.

The gardens

Walk around our beautiful gardens, near the park centre.Each area reflects a different star or planet.

Riverside walk

Walk along the River Wear, stop for a picnic at one of the seats along the way, or head for the wildlife area with the pond and grassland meadow.

Opening times

You can drive into the park car park at any time, and there is 24 hour access to the park.

Play area

The play area is open at all times.

Splash pad

The Splash pad is now open until 10 September 2017. Opening days and times are:

Weekends, and school holidays* from 10.00am to 6.00pm

Throughout June, pre-school sessions every Monday and Friday, from 11.00am to 3.00pm

* From 29 May to Friday 4 June (half term) and from 3 July to 10 September 2017.
