Minchella and Co.
When Giuseppe Minchella moved from Italy to England, his first individual pitch was in Boldon Colliery selling refreshing ice cream to all the miners after a hard days graft. Having his products so gratefully accepted, Giuseppe fell in love with ice cream and serving it to the community. Unknown to Giuseppe this was just the start of a beautiful thing.
After working in many of towns across the North East, he eventually settled down in South Shields. Giuseppe took over the ice cream parlour at no. 8 King St, formally owned by the Notarianni family. Unfortunately the business was bombed during the war. Luckily no one was hurt, but their business was totally destroyed.
Inspired by their father, the Minchella brothers Luigi, Toney and Feddy, had their destiny set. The unbreakable bond that the brothers shared, supported each other through the opening and development of each of their 3 companies, all trading with their family name. Minchella & Co, Luigi Minchella Ltd and Toney Minchella. Sadly, the Minchella brothers have now passed away, but their passion lives on through their children, grand children and now great grand children. We hope you enjoy our company.

Lovely coffee and great ice cream. Staff were friendly and helpful too. Might be a tight squeeze with a buggy or wheelchair.
