Struggling to find a parking space on a Newcastle match day, we stumbled across a new coffee shop close to Newcastle College. Having already posted about Woods Coffee House in Tynemouth (which has stunning views of the Priory if you manage to grab the window seat), I was aware of this local chain but didn’t know they had opened a branch in the Toon. 

Located on George Street, as the name suggests, this coffee house is bound to be popular once the students return this month. Having opened just as the college started to wind down for the summer in July, the prices are reasonable. It’s a short walk from the Discovery Museum, so parents craving a decent coffee can pop in after a long day entertaining the sprogs. The industrial style fit out is really cool, and Woods offer breakfast and lunch options to either sit in and enjoy or take away.

There’s also a great selection of cakes, so if you’re wanting to have a catch-up coffee this is a great place to visit.With its close proximity to where we live, we’ll be making a point of popping in for brunch soon.
