Blue Flames is a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) and a not-for-profit business whose mission is to provide quality sport and leisure facilities at affordable prices to the community at large. It developed from a gas employees members only club to its current accessible community facility, managed by a board of volunteer directors.

The Club is located at the eastern edge of Newcastle upon Tyne on Whitley Road and is a Sports and Leisure complex on the 15 acre Whitley Park site. The Club provide indoor facilities inside the Sports Hall andClubhouse buildings and outdoor activities on grassed pitches, cricket wickets and bowls green.

The Northumberland F.A. has its HQ on the site and West Allotment Celticof the local Northern League plays its home games here. Additionally,Newcastle United Reserves play a number of home games at Whitley Park.

Other sporting activities on the site include indoor and outdoor football, netball, cricket, tennis, indoor rugby and bowls. In addition a range of fitness sessions take place - fitness gym, indoor & outdoor training, Bootcamp, and so on.

As well as being a popular sports venue, the centre also caters for a whole range of leisure activities and offers full Conferencing facilities. Blue Flames has 3 licensed function rooms, varying in capacity fro 100 to 250 people. These are suitable for the whole range of events from meetings, training and presentations to all types of celebrations - Weddings, Christenings, Parties, Sporting Dinners, BBQs, Fun Days, Quiz Nights, Prize Giving, and so on... and remember -

NOT FOR PROFIT MEANS LOW PRICING POLICY

Blue Flames uses income from commercial activities and fees to subsidise its sporting activities. However, it still needs to fundraise for major improvement projects such as building the Sports Hall or relaying court surfaces and in this it has been supported by many local and national organisations. We would like to register our appreciation to the following who have provided grants or assistance to the club over the years -

SITA Trust

Northern Rock Foundation

Taylor Wimpey

North Tyneside Council

English Netball Association

English County Cricket Board
