To launch National Hate Crime Awareness Week 2019 in Newcastle/Gateshead, we are kindly being hosted by the North East’s most successful sports team, The Newcastle Eagles basketball team!
Following on from the region’s first Walk of Solidarity in Gateshead last year in support for those who have experienced hate crime, we will be holding a bigger and better event this October.
For those of you travelling from Gateshead, Go North East are providing a free bus, leaving Gateshead Civic Centre at 12:30pm to return at 3:30pm
Participants are encouraged to make and bring banners and placards with positive messages against hate crime. There will be refreshments and engagement stalls after the walk, the Northumbria Police Mounted Section will be there and there will hopefully be the chance to meet Eagles players themselves!
This will be a celebration of intolerance to hate in Newcastle/Gateshead.
