As volunteers at Friends Action North East, we have been reviewing places to see how accessible they are for adults with learning difficulties/or disabilities. Mustang Sally's is a small classic American diner style cafe situated at Stepney Bank in Byker, Newcastle. It has a small car park outside, no specific disabled parking but can be quite spacious, with a ramp leading to the entrance. Inside has classic American soft rock music, not overpowering, and doesn't disrupt the calm, comfortable atmosphere, with nice friendly staff. It is one level, no lift necessary, no disabled toilet, however still quite spacious, guide dogs not allowed and no facilities for the deaf, deafened or hard of hearing. It is not registered as a safe place, however staff did show interest, therefore maybe this will be put in place in the future. The menu also has interesting, unusual food, typical of American diners, it is also reasonably cheap, and good value for money, especially since they allow take out.
