The Newcastle Film Festival is a new four day event taking place across venues throughout the historic British city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne between March 29th and April 1st 2018. With films from all genres from around the world being showcased, the inaugural Newcastle Film Festival will be a truly international celebration of film. The entire weekend will be topped and tailed with fabulous Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

The Newcastle Film Festival will be showcasing films from across the World, including several World Premieres, Classics featuring cast and crew and new films from all genres of movies.

The Victorems will be awarded at a star studded ceremony in the centre of Newcastle, recognising film makers, actors and creative talent covering all aspects of film, including Best Film and Best Actor.

The North East of England plays host to a series of exciting movie related events, from masterclasses to Q&A’s from legendary names for the silver screen, starting with the grand opening ceremony.

A selection of exclusive horror films and shorts as part of our ‘Fright Night’, with an exclusive world 1st opportunity to meet and engage in a Question & Answer session with the legendary Neil Marshall director of The Descent, Dog Soldiers and Hellboy

A public World Premiere “Born in Bristol – the big bang of Country Music” featuring the legendary Dolly Parton

A music extravaganza evening

Where the Stars meet the Stars (delivered by the region’s very own Gary Fildes, author An Astronomer’s Tale)

A special screening of Sir John Hurt’s ‘That Good Night’

 

Where do Newcastle Film Festival screenings take place?
Screenings will take place in venues across the city and Gateshead, from cinemas to more unique venues. A full list of participating venues will be announced shortly.

When will the Newcastle Film Festival film programme be announced?
We will be announcing the programme of shortlisted films early 2018, however keep your eyes on our social media pages as we may announce special events earlier!
