We are delighted to announce the following two courses taking place at Disability North during March 2017 covering "Moving & Handling People in the Community and Residential Care" and "Bariatric Moving & Handling".

‘The obese population in the UK is growing and this group are considerably over-represented in their use of health and social care services’. – Health & Safety Executive.

The challenges and complexities of caring for the obese population are increasing and the risks to staff caring for this group of patients and service users are becoming ever greater.

The course will examine the legislation surrounding manual handling of the bariatric person, the importance of appropriate risk assessment and provide practical help and ideas of how to handle and work with the larger client both in terms of safer principles of handling, effective equipment choice and use and encouragement of independence.

Therefore, this course will offer an extensive range of practical advice using equipment and scenarios and will be extremely helpful to professionals who work within the health and social care environments.

The courses are £60 (plus VAT) each to attend however, if you book onto both courses at the same time we offer a discounted rate of £50 (plus VAT) per course.
